The Old North End or ONE is colorful, eccentric, diverse, and rich in character. It encompasses the area between Manhattan Drive and Pearl Street on the northern end of the city's downtown. It tends to be the least expensive neighborhood to buy a home in and is the most heavily tenant-occupied area in the city. The South End is quieter with easy access to the parks and beaches on Lake Champlain. The Five Sisters neighborhood, within the south end is comprised of the streets Caroline, Charlotte, Catherine, Margaret, and Marian and it is very desirable for home buyers because of its mostly owner-occupied population. The most high end neighborhood in Burlington is the Hill Section, where you can find large luxurious old Victorians which have been modernized to fit today’s taste.
Burlington also has a suburban area north of the downtown area. This residential area is also primarily owner-occupied, known for its family friendly neighborhoods, good schools, and easy access to the Burlington Bike Path.
